CEO

Sloan’s Security Service is structured as a LLC, with me as the sole owner located in Gainesville, FL. We are licensed for private security in both armed and unarmed status. We started out with one patrol unit and several accounts which include: Days Inn Hotel, Comfort Inn and Suites as well as Howard Johnson Express. Later we picked up more accounts:

  • The City of Gainesville
  • The Annual Hoggetowne Medieval Faire
  • Concerts in the Downtown Plaza – this weekly event runs all summer long and we have a long running success rate with the City of Gainesville.

Teacher

What do you do to strengthen and improving the teaching profession? Improving the teaching profession begins with me. I have worked to improve myself by earning an A.S. in Business and an A.A. in Education from Santa Fe Community College. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Post Graduate Practice Childhood Education and School Curriculum Education courses from the University of Florida. I also received a Master of Science in Early Childhood and Computer Science Education from Nova University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I also received an ESOL Endorsement (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and Reading Endorsement through NEFEC (North East Florida Educational Consortium) and taking in-service classes during the school year and every summer.

I contribute to the profession by training substitute teachers and interns and mentoring any new incoming teacher in my grade level. I have been a kindergarten teacher at Chiefland Elementary School for 23 years and have enjoyed and looked forward to each coming year. My goal as a teacher is to instill in children a love for learning; teach children that learning can be fun as well as educational; and help children reach their highest potentials. That it is much more important for children to want to learn than it is for them to be taught. I believe that this philosophy can be applied to the needs of all people. I know my abilities as well as my potential. I believe that I should strive for excellence to developing my fullest potential. Only when I can do, can I have the expertise, which serves students in our schools and our communities as well.

In House Training

Sloan’s Security Service is the only security company in Gainesville, FL that is licensed to provide its own in house training for private security. This benefit alone puts Sloan’s Security Service a cut above the rest by way of creating its own staff as opposed to finding staffing that is already licensed. The long term residual for training our own staff will provide staffing that can be entry level and hired at an entry level of pay versus a much higher rate that can burden a beginning company. By training our own officers we will have a fresh staff not looking for a stepping stone company to “hold them over” until something better comes along, but a staff that will want to grow as we grow.

We do not want a revolving door with Sloan’s Security Service, but we want our members to stay and see that they have a job they can call a career.

How does Sloan’s Security Service fit into the community? We bring jobs to the community. We help out local law enforcement, and provide security service for private industry. In March, we do volunteer security service for the March of Dimes.

Sloan’s Security Service Mission Statement

“We Keep Watch, So You Don’t Have To.”

Under the triple “S” policy of Serious, Superior and Sound, Sloan’s Security Service provides excellent security for the community needs.
